![]() All that matters is that the experience is never wasted. If we can reach space, we can reach our closest planetary neighbor. If the satellite can get up there, maybe an astronaut can. If you get there, then maybe we can put a satellite even further. If you manage to break the world's speed record, you're ready to try reaching the upper atmosphere and recording how the air is up there. You advance simply by being bold enough to try reaching a little higher, making your species' sphere of influence just a little larger with every attempt. Although all your scientists and pilots are little green men, the game is intrinsically human. What KSP values above all is perseverance. As far as I can tell, the game never stops, and an entire solar system waits out there to be explored. ![]() But it is most certainly a teacher that wants nothing more than for you to find enlightenment.Īs such, trying to nutshell Kerbal Space Program isn't a matter of straightforward "You win if you get here" goals. ![]() Failure is a teacher here, one that challenges you and doesn't compromise by handing you all the answers. Making a mistake never felt like a punishment, as if the game had placed an insurmountable obstacle in front of me and laughed as I flailed wildly at it. The game surpasses that categorization because of that sense of constant discovery and innovation. But for all the things that feel brain-bending and sciencey, there's still a mild sense of approachability, like the fact that trying to plot a flight path that puts you in orbit with a different planet is essentially a really touchy and precise game of Bop It. For one thing, no matter how serious things get, you're still playing in a world of little green cartoons, which the game never really reconciles with its overwhelming physical realism the further along you go. Kerbal Space Program 2 trailerĪll we have seen really is a pretty glamorous launch trailer that can’t fail to leave you excited if you played (and killed your Kerbals repeatedly) in the first game.It doesn't really cover it to say that Kerbal Space Program is a space sim. A plethora of exciting new features will captivate veteran and returning players, as well as usher in a whole new wave of Kerbonauts to the ingenious and comedic world that has entertained millions of players. Build a space program, construct powerful spacecraft, design resource-gathering colonies, and much more to uncover the secrets of the galaxy. In the words of the devs: “With the original Kerbal Space Program having become one of the most beloved games of all time and now bigger than ever, Kerbal Space Program 2 has been fully redesigned from the ground up to meet the demands of modern and next-generation space exploration, all while maintaining the monumental foundations of the first game. ![]() The official Steam page currently lists the game as “coming soon” – you can wishlist it here should you want to.Īs soon as things are tightened up we will update this page. With all that said and done, we simply have no concrete release date yet with many speculating the game could arrive as late as December this year, while others are hoping for a summer release. Thankfully the forums are hugely active with developer updates and general chat from fans of the game. it’s still not exactly awash with new information but the date at least says 2022. However, despair not as that site has just stopped being updated and the devs have been actively carrying on updating via a new site. You could think without the correct insight that worryingly there has not been much information since the last news post on the devs official site for Kerbal 2 in June 2020. The Kerbals however have no such pandemic on their planet so what’s their excuse for being late? Kerbal Space Program 2 release date The sequel to the game that brought orbital physics to the masses (never thought I would write those words did I?) was originally penned in for a release back in 2020, but then again, a lot of things were supposed to happen in 2020…and 2021 until our microscopic overlords took over the planet. The mission to boldly go where no Kerbal has gone before has, like many a NASA launch, been scrubbed a couple of times.
